It is next to impossible to review a classic like this. Only thing I can say is that I wish I had read it earlier.

In the beginning of the book, author says its not just one character that inspired the character of Tom Sawyer, but it has been carved out of many characters that he grew up with including himself. The beauty of this character is that you would see shades of your own childhood in the acts and adventures of Tom and his friends. The thrill to do something, and then the inherent fear of facing the consequences, an inquisitiveness to explore anything mysterious, an innocence to do things that you would dare not do when you grow up. This makes you re-live your childhood, re-live those emotions when you have innocence to go and attempt anything but you have no control over your own life, it is directed and at times dictated my almost everyone around you.
